NEW: Application to 2014/2015 programmes: procedures and deadlines

1. Applying for a Master programme

Entry requirements
Admission to a Master programme is open to graduates who have at least a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) or will obtain it by 31 December 2014.

Admission application: deadline and procedures
The application must be submitted online, through the proper service Sifa on line>Admission within 10 September 2014 (the deadline for non EU applicants resident abroad is 30 June), following these steps:

1) Register to UNIMI  (if you're not yet registered to the portal)
2) Login to SIFA online services and choose Servizi di ammissione - Admission > Master programmes without entrance examination
3) Pay the admission fee (30 euro), with Credit Card (Visa or Mastercard), while applying on line (or MAV, if living in Italy)
4) Upload the following documents (others could be required for the chosen course) in .jpg .pdf .rtf file:

  • Degree certificate and transcript: graduation certificate(s) issued by the competent University and transcript(s) recording exams taken, grades and credits 
  • Passport - personal data: copy of the page with personal details
  • Letter of motivation
  • Curriculum vitae

Unless differently required by the chosen course, documents can be produced in one of the following languages: Italian, English, French, Spanish and German.

VERY IMPORTANT: non-EU citizens resident abroad who do not have an Italian residence permit, must also submit their formal pre-application  to the Italian Embassy or Consulate in their country, by the annually established deadline (for the academic year 2014/2015 from 24 March to 30 June 2014).


Evaluation exam

Candidates eligible for admission could be asked to take an interview or a test aimed at verifying their own qualification.
Dates and detailed information about the exam will be available on the faculties and courses websites.

The interview could be held via web, according to the procedures specified by the individual degree programs at their respective websites. In this case dates and times of the interview will be arranged case by case by e-mail or phone.

The results of the evaluation will be communicated to the candidates by e-mail within one month.

HOW TO ENROL
A) EU citizens and non EU living in Italy must apply online, through the proper service from 15 July to 15 October 2014, following these steps:
1) login to SIFA online services and choose Servizi di immatricolazione e iscrizione > IMMATRICOLAZIONE
3) enter the required details and upload a photo and an identity document (JPG, PNG, BMP max 2 Mb)
4) pay the first instalment of the enrolment fee using your credit card (Visa or Mastercard) or the bollettino MAV printable at the end of the enrolment procedure online. The bollettino MAV can be paid at any bank in Italy.
5) deliver the required documents to the International Students Desk.

B) Non-EU citizens residing abroad who do not have an Italian residence permit, must enrol following these steps:
1) hand in the documents given by the Italia Consulate/Embassy to the International Students Desk (please bring the original and make a copy for the office)
2) collect the Enrolment form and the proper bank form
3) pay the first instalment of the enrolment fee at any BancaIntesa branch
4) deliver the filled out Enrolment form and the recepit of payment to the International Students Desk


All students are required to submit the following documents
at the enrolment (please bring the original and make a copy for the office):

  • 1st level degree along with the Dichiarazione di Valore in Loco or Diploma Supplement
  • copy of the Secondary School Diploma (in Italian, English, French Spanish or German)
  • passport/identity card
  • Italian taxcode (codice fiscale)
  • valid residence permit (permesso di soggiorno) for non-EU citizens
  • admission fee receipt (euro 30)
  • enrolment fee receipt (euro 689)
  • Form A (for non EU-citizens resident abroad)

2. Applying for a Master programme with entrance examination

Entry requirements
Admission to a Master programme is open to graduates who have at least a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) or will obtain it by 31st December.

Admission application: deadline and procedures
European
 and non European citizens residing in Italy must apply online, through the proper service that will be available on this website in July following these steps:

1) Register to UNIMI (if you're re not yet registered to the portal)
2) Login to SIFA online services and choose Servizi di ammissione - Admissions > Lauree magistrali ad accesso programmato - Master programmes with an entrance examination
3) Upload the required documents
4) Pay the admission fee (50 Euro) using your credit card (Visa or Mastercard) or the bollettino MAV printable at the end of the admission procedure online. The bollettino MAV can be paid at any bank in Italy.


Non-EU citizens residing abroad who do not have an Italian residence permit, must submit their formal pre-application   to the Italian Embassy or Consulate in their country from 24 March to 30 June.

Competitive examination
Candidates eligible for admission must pass a competitive examination: the dates, the announcements (Italian text) and  the results (Italian text – select “Servizi di ammissione”), will be available online.

Non-EU citizens residing abroad are admitted to limited-number courses with special short lists. The maximum number of places available is established on an annual basis by the faculties and is published on the website of the MIUR (Italian text) – the Ministry of University and Research.

HOW TO ENROL
Admitted students will enrol by the dates established after the exam.

A) EU citizens and non EU living in Italy must apply online, through the proper service on line, following these steps:

1) show the documents listed below (from a to d) to the International Students Desk
2) Login to SIFA online services and choose Servizi di immatricolazione e iscrizione > IMMATRICOLAZIONE
3) enter the required details and upload a photo and an identity document (JPG, PNG, BMP max 2 Mb)
4) pay the first instalment of the enrolment fee using your credit card (Visa or Mastercard) or the bollettino MAV printable at the end of the enrolment procedure online. The bollettino MAV can be paid at any bank in Italy.
5) deliver the required documents to the International Students Desk.

B) Non-EU citizens residing abroad who do not have an Italian residence permit, must enrol following these steps:
1) hand in the documents given by the Italia Consulate/Embassy to the International Students Desk (please bring the original and makecopy to leave at the office)
2) collect the Enrolment form and the proper bank form
3) pay the first instalment of the enrolment fee at any BancaIntesa branch

3. Applying for a 1st level vocational master

The application must be done through the proper service online by the deadline specified in the competitive examination announcement (Italian text), with the following steps:
1) register to UNIMI (if you're re not yet registered to the portal)
2) login to online services  and choose Servizi di ammissione "admission" > Ammissione ai corsi post laurea > Master
3) enter the required details and upload a photo and an identity document (JPG, PNG, BMP max 2 Mb)
4) pay the admission fee (50 euro) using your credit card (Visa or Mastercard) or the bollettino MAV printable at the end of the enrolment procedure online. The bollettino MAV can be paid at any bank in Italy.
5) deliver the following documents to the Ufficio Dottorati di ricerca e Master universitari:
- a copy of the enrolment receipt
- a certificate issued by the foreign university showing the examinations passed
- a Curriculum Vitae

The dates of the entrance examinations, where applicable, are published in the competitive examination announcement
    
HOW TO ENROL

Admitted students must enrol within 5 days from the publication of the short list, following these steps:

1) login to online services  (with unimi registration credential)
2) choose Servizi di immatricolazione e iscrizione > Immatricolazioni > Immatricolazione ai Master

They are required to submit the following documents to the Ufficio Dottorati di ricerca e Master universitari:  

  • Italian taxcode (codice fiscale)
  • passport/identity card 
  • receipt for payment
  • an original  bachelor degree certificate, translated into Italian by an official translator, authenticated by the authorities of the country in which it was issued and accompanied by a Dichiarazione di Valore in Loco (Certificate of Equivalence of Qualification) from the Italian Embassy of the same country.
  • valid residence permit (permesso di soggiorno) for non-EU citizens

4. Withdrawal

Those who wish to withdraw from enrolment for personal reasons can do so at any time, addressing the  withdrawal notice to the University Rector.

If the withdrawal is made before the start of the course, you will have the right to a refund of enrolment and course fees.  However, 10% of the amount paid will be withheld to cover administration costs.

To obtain a refund, you must complete the special form  and attach the original payment receipt.
