Sharing mobility: national survey of sustainable mobility at University campuses10-10-2016

Monitor and analyse the shared mobility habits of the Italian University population in order to guide mobility management policies. This is the aim of the online questionnaire promoted by the National Coordination of Mobility Managers that can be answered until Monday October 31st.

Sharing mobility, the new way of commuting to the University based on shared use of transportation services.

The national survey of travel and sharing mobility at Italian Universities, promoted by the National Coordination of Mobility Managers of Italian Universities, is dedicated to this third mode of transport, alternative and intermediate between use of private vehicles and public transport services.

The Coordination of Mobility Managers, an integral part of the National Network of Sustainable Universities, set up within the framework of the Conference of Italian University Rectors in 2015 with the aim of promoting a shared culture of sustainability and sustainability best practices amongst the 50 member universities, also participates in the National Observatory on shared mobility of the Ministry of the Environment and Foundation for Sustainable Development.

The online questionnaire addresses the entire University population - research assistants, research fellows, PhD students, professors, students, administrative staff, post-graduate students, contract staff - who are called upon to indicate their commutating habits to their place of work or study.

With the questionnaire, the National Coordination intends to collect - always in respect of privacy and only for research purposes - mobility data, comparable at national level, which will be published in the First National Report on the development of shared mobility in Italy.

The Coordination is headed by a specific Committee appointed in July 2016 by the Conference of Italian University Rectors, and tasked with guiding and monitoring the activities of the Network, through the setting up specific work groups on priority issues of sustainable development, such as energy, mobility and waste.

The commitment of the University of Milan from the organizational phases of the National Network of Sustainable Universities is confirmed by the election to the Coordination Committee of the National Network of Sustainable Universities of Riccardo Guidetti, delegate of the Rector for Campus sustainability.
