The University of Milan and Puntozero Theatre invite students to take part in the 5th “Writing for theatre” contest with brief original plays proposing a reflection on contemporary society. The deadline to apply: 15 June 2019.

Imagine that you see the wretched strangers, Their babies at their backs and their poor luggage, Plodding to the ports and coasts for transportation …”

Starting from the lines spoken by Sir Thomas More in the homonymous play by William Shakespeare, The University of Milan and Puntozero Theatre invite students to take part in the 5th “Writing for theatre” contest with brief original plays proposing a reflection on contemporary society. The original text can be presented in any language, but has to be accompanied by its translation in Italian or English.

Playtexts have to envision no more than three characters and last maximum ten minutes. They should focus specifically on themes of migration, poverty, order and legality, on the fears of migrants and the people in host countries, as well as their hopes and aspirations.

To participate, students have to send their own brief play text and curriculum vitae to Margaret Rose (margaret.rose@unimi.it) e a Cristina Cavecchi (cristina.cavecchi@unimi.it), professors of English Letterature at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures.
