Erasmus+ outgoing students: CEFR level certificates  

The Language Service of the University of Milan (SLAM - Servizio Linguistico dell’Ateneo di Milano) organizes language knowledge assessment tests for students who are going to study abroad within the Erasmus+ mobility programme.

The following tests are available:

  • English: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2
  • French: B1, B2
  • German: A2, B1
  • Spanish: B1

Students who pass the test are awarded a Language Level Report, accepted by foreign Universities as evidence of their language knowledge. In order to register for a test session, students must fill in this online form. The tests will be held according to the following schedule:

English language (all levels):

  • April 9th, 2018 at 2 p.m.
  • May 7th, 2018 at 2 p.m.
  • June 11th, 2018 at 2 p.m.
  • July 9th, 2018 at 2 p.m.

French language (level B1 and B2):

  • April 9th, 2018 at 11.30 a.m.
  • May 7th, 2018 at 11.30 a.m.
  • June 11th, 2018 at 11.30 a.m.
  • July 9th, 2018 at 11.30 a.m.

Spanish language (level B1 and B2):

  • April 9th, 2018 at 10.30 a.m.
  • May 7th, 2018 at 10.30 a.m.
  • June 11th, 2018 at 10.30 a.m.
  • July 9th, 2018 at 10.30 a.m.

German language (level A2, B1, B2 and C1):

  • April 9th, 2018 at 9 a.m.
  • May 7th, 2018 at 9 a.m.
  • June 11th, 2018 at 9 a.m.
  • July 9th, 2018 at 9 a.m.


All tests are held at CertLab, via Giuseppe Colombo 46, room 701.

Test features

  • English Language test (A2-C2 level) is an adaptive test (the level of difficulty changes according to the answers given). It lasts 60 minutes and it focuses on listening, grammar and reading comprehension.
  • French Language test (B1 and B2 level of CEFR) is structured with questions about grammar, lexicon and language communicative functions, reading and listening. Grammar exercises focus on prepositions, adjectives, pronouns and verb conjugation (indicative, subjunctive, conditional, imperative, participle and gerund). Listening concerns the dictation of a test.
  • Spanish Language test (B1 level) concerns 25 questions about grammar, lexicon and language communicative functions. Grammar questions focus on prepositions, verb conjugation (all modes of indicative and imperative) and the transcription of numbers in letters.
  • Advanced Spanish Language test (B2 level) concerns 20 questions about grammar, lexicon and language communicative functions. Grammar questions mainly cover prepositions, prepositional phrases and verb conjugation (indicative, subjunctive, imperative).
  • German Language test (A2, B1, B2, C1 level) is the OnSET-Deutsch, which is divided in eight fill-in tests (cloze test) with a progressive level of difficulty. Information and a mock test (Beispieltest) are available on this page. We invite students not to register autonomously on Teilnehmer-Portal: the registration will be done on the day of the exam.
