The CIDiS
(Italian text) is an institute backed by the Lombardy Region that provides students with material support during their time at university.
In addition to managing accommodation and refectories, the institute helps able and deserving students who have financial difficulties by providing scholarships and grants.
Scholarships and grants are reserved for students enrolled on university courses (1st level degrees, 2nd level degrees, single-cycle degrees, doctoral programmes or specialisation schools) who meet the criteria of academic merit and financial need, as established by the competitive examination announcements (issued annually during the summer).
The value of the scholarship depends on the socioeconomic situation of the student’s family and his/her country of origin.
If the beneficiary of a scholarship belongs to a category of disability that is protected by law, the value of the scholarship can rise to a maximum of € 6,528.00.
The institute also awards special grants (known as sovvenzioni straordinarie) to students who are unexpectedly faced with serious financial, family or health problems.
The competitive examination announcements are published on the CIDiS website, on the Assistance
page (Italian text).
There are also University scholarships, awarded though competitive examinations, which are still based on academic merit and financial need, but with slightly different criteria to those established by the CIDiS.
The value of the scholarship is fixed at € 4,100.00.
Applications are handled by the CIDiS – Online office
(Italian text) section.
The University provides further support to deserving students with financial difficulties, by offering partial or total exemption from the payment of university fees.
