Historical Materials of the Institute of Agricultural Entomology

entomological boxA collection of historical materials inherited from the Regia Scuola Superiore di Agricoltura (Royal School of Agriculture) which, at the end of the 19th century, began to conduct studies in basic and applied entomology and introduced the first courses in apiculture, entomology and sericulture, a subject of great interest at that time, given the widespread production of natural silk in the region.

In addition to 18th- and 19th-century books, treatises and monographs, the collections feature papier maché models of silkworms, wall charts and entomological boxes, as well as a whole range of insects, from Tirelli’s coleopteran collection to Del Guercio’s collection of aphids.
