Learning objectives
This course aims to achieve the following learning objectives:
1] Acquiring a solid understanding of the theoretical principles underlying the psychology of decision-making.
2] Acquiring a solid knowledge of the instrument designed to support healthcare professionals and pa-tients in their decision-making processes.
3] Understanding and recognizing the mechanisms and processes that underlie individual and group deci-sion-making in clinical settings.
4] Knowing the principal medical decision-making models and their implications at individual and system levels, ranging from paternalistic to shared decision-making models.
5] Identifying potential ethical aspects involved in medical decision-making processes and their conse-quences.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
1] Apply key theoretical paradigms to analyze decision-making processes within clinical settings, investi-gating implications for healthcare professionals, patients, and the involved health organizations.
2] Recognize the mechanisms and processes that underlie individual and group decision-making in clinical contexts.
3] Recognize decision analysis tools appropriate to the healthcare environment.
4] Recognize ethical considerations entailed in decision-making processes within the field of medicine.
