CHF is a leading cause of mortality in developed countries and the actual diagnostic method give no information about the progression of the pathology.
This new method is based on the identification, on circulating cells of patients, of an anomalous behaviour of A2A adenosine receptors as a specific biomarker of the disease.
The normalisation of the altered A2A receptor phenotype in the peripheral cells of heart transplanted patients has been observed, underlining the suitability of this biomarker to monitor disease regression and the efficacy of therapeutic interventions.
The set up and miniaturisation of the detection method may help producing a diagnostic kit for clinical practice.
