Learning objectives
The course will focus on the critical study of digital cultures and communication from a theoretical and methodological perspective. The course is organized in three modules:
- Digital cultures: theoretical perspective, that discusses the main concepts and theoretical resources to study digital culture;
- Digital cultures: methodological approaches, that focuses on the methods used to study digital culture;
- Communication research: qualitative strategies, that looks more closely at qualitative research methods in the study of communication.
Expected learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete the course will be able to:

a) Critically appraise the relevance of digital cultures in relation to media and society, and interpret the most salient phenomena within this context;
b) Acquire an in-depth understanding of the research methods and traditions pertaining to communication research, experimented in the context of digital cultures;
c) Practice and engage with the collection and analysis of digital data for purposes of research in the areas of communication and society
