The main purposes of the course are: 1. to know and identify the most important useful plants and animals, their approximate taxonomic placement and products/uses. 2. to recognize and appreciate animals and plants and products thereof encountered in everyday life and their economic relevance at both the local and the global scale. 3. to understand the issues related to domestication of plants, the potential of technology to improve sustainability of agriculture and wildlife exploitation, and the effects of regulatory oversight. 4. to obtain the ability of managing plants and wild animals as resources 5. to obtain the capability of managing and controlling of species that are harmful to humans and ecosystems.
