Learning objectives
The course has as main objectives: the definition and classification of drug targets, the description of various aspects of the pharmacodynamic action of drugs, the illustration of the different biotechnological drugs, the overview of the various aspects of pharmacokinetics: absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs, the definition of rational use bases of the different drugs in the therapy of the various organ pathologies and apparatus, the description of the basic principles of toxicology.

Prerequisites for admission
Students must have fulfilled all the prerequisite requirements indicated in the study plan: General Pathology and Immunology, Human Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry and Fundamentals of Human Biochemistry
Teaching methods
Teachers give lectures, using PPT presentations which are then deposited on the Ariel website.

Assessement methods and criteria
The exam consists of a written test, with twelve open questions. The evaluation parameters used for each answer concern the completeness of the knowledge, the critical reasoning ability and the appropriateness in the use of the specialized lexicon. Each answer is evaluated in thirtieths, with the possibility of acquiring 33 points in the case of laude. Missing or incorrect answers are evaluated 0 points. The final result of the test coincides with the rounded arithmetic mean (17.6 = 18; 17.5 = 17). It is possible to take an in itinere test at the end of the first part of the course (once a year), which can however be accessed by all students who have never taken this test before. The ongoing test consists of 6 open questions. The final grade is the result of the approximate arithmetic mean, estimated on the twelve questions. The results are communicated via SIFA. Following the communication, students can view the tests and ask the teachers for explanations, on a date fixed on the day of the exam. This procedure applies to both the on-going test and the final test.
