Learning objectives
The course aims to provide the students the scientific knowledge for a proper management of the more common reproductive diseases in male and female domestic animals and for the correct basic management of the breeders. Thanks to practises, under the teacher's supervision, the students will be actively involved in the clinical examination, in the execution and interpretation of the necessary supplementary investigations, and in diagnosis and prognosis making, and in the choice and execution of the more appropriate therapy, and in the patient follow-up. Students will also be actively involved in the medical or surgical management of male and female contraception, as well as in the basic management of breeders. direct management of the more common reproductive diseases in small and large animals, in the management of female and male contraception, and in the management of breeders.

Syllabus
LECTURES
Andrologic clinical examination: examination in the male breeder and in the male patient, semen collection and evaluation (4 h)
Testicular Maldescent: etiopathogenesis, clinical presentation and medical or surgical management (2 h)
Orchitis and testicular tumors:
etiopathogenesis, clinical presentation and medical or surgical management (4 h)
Male sexual glands diseases: etiopathogenesis, clinical presentation and medical or surgical management (2 h)
Penile and preputial diseases: etiopathogenesis, clinical presentation and medical or surgical management (2 h)
Male contraception: indications, surgical or pharmacologic management (2 h)

PRACTICES
Self-assessment test about the anatomic and physiologic basic aspects of the male genital system (in classroom): (2 h/student)
Management of simulated clinical cases by small groups of students (in classroom): clinical cases about the more common testicular, sexual glands, penile and preputial diseases, and clinical cases about male contraception or male breeders management (6 /student)
Management of andrologic clinical cases by groups of students (clinic, surgery room, laboratory): Andrologic clinical examination, medical records,collection and evaluation of semen, male genital system ultrasonography, male genital system surgery and management of the surgical patient, medical report and certification (8 h/student)

Syllabus
The Module, consisting in 5 CFU, is designed as follows:
- Lectures (2 CFU - 24 hours), aimed to provide the students the knowledge and the "how to do" tools to correctly manage the most common female genital system diseases, the female contraception and the surgical procedures in obstetric and gynaecology, according to the Evidence Based Medicine
- Practises (2 CFU - 32 hours) subdivided as: self-assessment about anatomic and physiologic basic aspects of the female genital system (2 hours, Classroom); small groups of student management of simulated clinical cases (6 hours and 8 hours, Classroom); direct students involvement in the clinical management of gynaecologycal and obstetrical patients (8 hours in clinic, surgery room, laboratory). During practises the students will learn how to manage the obstetrical and gynaecologycal examination, to perform the instrumental investigations and the complementary exams, to perform the most common surgeries, to manage the patient around the time of surgery and the patient followup, to write correctly medical records and certifications, in order to be able to manage independently the most common female diseases, the female contraception and the pregnant female, according to the Evidence Based Medicine.
