Learning objectives
Il percorso si prefigge di sviluppare le logiche di approccio pratico clinico al paziente canino e felino affetto da patologie di interesse chirurgico che riguardano i tessuti molli. La necessità di interagire con il binomio proprietario- paziente rende fondamentale l'approfondimento delle tecniche di comunicazione per la raccolta dell'anamesi e il raggiungimento del consenso informato alla terapia. Sono considerati tutti i protocolli di diagnosi differenziale e le scelte terapeutiche possibili con riferimento anche alle malattie dell'apparato genitale e della mammella oltre che alle patologie oncologiche. L'obiettivo è rendere lo studente autonomo nel processo decisionale clinico e responsabile delle scelte terapeutiche intraprese. Sono previste sessioni di discussione interattiva sia di tipo seminarialein forma di journal club.

Syllabus
Analgesia and pain therapy in dogs and cats: description of sedative and analgesic properties of the most common drugs used in veterinary medicine

Syllabus
The diagnostic protocols of the most common surgical diseases of dogs and cats will be considered. All the students will be trained on the correct work-up and the decision making plan considering the differential diagnosis. Great attention will receive the teaching of comunication protocols with the owners.
Modulo: Chirurgia generale dei tessuti molli
Syllabus
The correct use of surgical therapy in oncology is one of the best tool against spontaneous tumor in canine and feline patients. The course will place emphasis on the learning on the currently clinical decisional algorithm for the stadiation and the surgical therapy of most frequent neoplasia. In addition the student will be always involved in the perioperative management of surgical oncology patients.

Syllabus
This section will provide informations concerning the most frequent diseases of respiratory tract in dog and cats. The students will be trained from a practical point of view expecially on BAOS, laringeal paralysys, pharingeal diseases in dogs and cats.
Modulo: Chirurgia speciale II
Syllabus
the main topics of this section are related to the study of the most common uological disorders in dogs and cat including urolithiasis and FLUDT. The diseases of the prostate gland in dogs as well as all teh diagnostic and therapeutic option will be discussed.
Modulo: Chirurgia oncologica
Syllabus
Neoplastic and non-neoplastic surgical skin disease will be discuss in order to explain their diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. The student will be directly involved in clinical assessment, diagnostic work-up, surgical procedures, perioperative management and medium term follow-up of the surgical skin disease. In addition the training in the recognition, categorization and treatment, of wound healing complications will be performed either with clinical cases either with lectures

Syllabus
The aim of the present course is to enhance the knowledge of the genital and mammary diseases which can be treated by surgical therapy. The teaching activity will be carried out with discussion of clinical cases and direct execution of surgical interventions.
Modulo: Istopatologia speciale
Syllabus
The course will give the histopathological point of view of the most important canine and feline pathologies of surgical interest. Histopathology of the neoplasms and the histological techniques to examine surgical margins will be particularly highlighted. In addition, trough scientific articles of journal of veterinary pathology in English language, suggested by the teacher and available in internet, the student will be educated in the importance of the consultation of international literature and in its potentiality for continue updating in histopathology.
