Learning objectives
The course aims to:
- provide knowledge about characteristics and principles in the use of MRI equipment
illustrate the main guidelines for performing MRI studies of various organs and systems, as well as the ability to recognize in the images: examined segment, acquisition plane, used type of sequence.
- provide specific knowledge to apply the radiological techniques of studying to the central nervous system.
- illustrate the current role of vascular and interventional radiology in the diagnosis and therapy of different diseases, and to inform students about the angiographic devices and technical issues related to the different procedures.
- provide knowledge about anatomy and pathology of the upper airway and their correlation with diagnostic imaging.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end, students must:
- know the characteristics and the fundamentals of MRI equipment
- know the basics of the most commonly used protocols in MRI
- know how to correlate the MRI images to the anatomical structures of the human body, and be able to recognize the different types of weighing and sequences used
- know the techniques of study of the CNS (from CT to standard and functional MRI investigations)
- know the different types of devices and the main procedures used in interventional radiology
- know the main diseases of the upper airway and their more suitable investigation techniques.
