Syllabus
PROGRAM:
Conscious and unconscious components of voluntary movement and reflex movements. Role of postural control: stabilizing voluntary movements (anticipatory postural actions); pre-selection of reflex movements as a function of experiences and expectations. Sensory-motor interaction in movements based on feed-back and feed-forward control. Sensory systems involved in balance. Redundancy and conflict among sensory systems.
Live experiences: anticipatory postural control; the consequences of sensory conflicts (prismatic glasses; muscle vibration). Rationale for clinical observation and rehabilitation in cases of pathologic postural control, sensation and/or sensory-motor interaction.
