Syllabus
The second course unit focuses on one of the approaches described in the first course unit: the economic theories of organization and, within this field, the transaction cost theory and the theory of contracts. For this purpose the contributions of Coase and Williamson to the transaction cost theory are analyzed, as well as, from a sociological perspective, the work of Ouchi and the criticisms of the transaction cost theory raised by Trigilia. About the theory of contracts, an essay by Milgrom and Roberts, which is analyzed in the last lessons of the course, helps to illustrate the principal-agent and moral hazard problems
