Course syllabus
The aim of the course is to provide high-level profiles for animal technicians in livestock production and professional skills to deal with the request of animal husbandry of the main farmed ruminants
The main topics of the course concern:
Livestock production systems of dairy cows and beef cattle and their significance in the Common Agricultural Policy.
Agricultural sustainability of breeding and farming systems
Ruminant livestock production in terms food safety and food security.
Rearing of monogastric
Course syllabus
The module teaches the students the management procedures to address some of the main issue of the modern pig farming. The students will develop relevant skills about the EU pig farming, which covers the 25% of production worldwide, and about the Italian sector, which encounters about 8.5 million/pig, and is in the top 12 pork producing countries (FAO, 2013). The farming system and the management procedures will be addressed in terms of product characterisation and respect of animal welfare.
