Learning objectives
To improve the students' receptive and productive skills in German, if possible bringing them close to the C2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The course also seeks to improve students' mediation skills and further develop their capacity for metalinguistic reflection, also from a contrastive point of view. In particular, the course will systematically present students, from both a theoretical and applied point of view, with morphosyntactic and lexical knowledge (even regarding specialist language). Supplementing the regular lessons will be language workshops with native-speaking teachers.
Expected learning outcomes
Along with their receptive, productive and interactive skills in German, students will also solidify their mediation skills (which the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages considers a true fourth competency). Students will therefore be capable of translating, paraphrasing and summarizing C1- and C2-level texts while also taking into consideration existing cultural differences. Students will also gain the capacity to use a foreign language (both written and spoken) in a well-structured, correct and precise manner so as to fully express their thoughts and opinions on political, economic and other current topics.
