Learning objectives
The course is meant to supply critical and theoretical instruments for the understanding of present Indian society. In particular the course will explore the meaning and the working principles of the caste system from several interrelated perspectives. Further aim of the course is to deepen the student's knowledge of the Muslim constituent of Indian society and to analyse the representation of interests and needs of the different segments of Indian society conveyed by the political milieu, the artistic one and by the press.
Expected learning outcomes
The students are expected to acquire the methodological, critical and theoretical instruments for the understanding of the main trends shaping contemporary Indian society. Besides the theoretical knowledge of contemporary Indian social, cultural and political features, the students are expected to express their knowledge properly, neatly and tellingly.
