The course focuses on the development and application of a variety of mathematical models, computational methods and numerical simulations. The specific choice of the application will certainly vary but the tools developed in the course will include:
- the modeling process in general;
- numerical computation and numerical algorithms;
- numerical simulation (problems and analysis);
- graphical representation and model-fitting;
- model calibration and validation.

Scientific Computing
Topics in the course will vary each year, the emphasis however is on the development and application of a variety of mathematical models, computational methods and numerical simulations.
Applied examples will involve dynamical systems, biological phenomena, systems of ordinary differential equations, simple partial differential equations (diffusion and conservation laws), genomics, optimization.
Introduction to scientific computing in MATLAB.
