Learning objectives
The course aims at analyzing Spanish language variation with special attention to language contact phenomena (bilingualism and migrant languages), as well as to colloquial and oral Spanish.
The course aims at enabling students to acquire consolidated sociolinguistic skills and a suitable metalinguistic reflection. It has a theoretical and descriptive approach and it incorporates different analytical tools (discourse analysis, pragmatics and sociolinguistics).
In parallel, the acquisition of grammatical and syntactic structures of Spanish will be promoted in order to obtain the C1 level of European Frame, which expects a high competence in oral and written communication in a wide range of specialized themes (politics, economy, social sciences and tourism).
Expected learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with the key concepts of linguistic variation, the basic lexicon to express them, as well as skills of critical analysis of the Spanish language through discourse analysis, pragmatics and sociolinguistics tools.
