Introduction to materials used in industry, gemology and cultural heritage (ceramic, cement, mortar, concrete and gems) and to causes and agents of damage and decay of materials.
Introduction to the mineralogical and imaging analyses (X-ray powder diffraction, optical and scanning electron microscopy, digital image analysis) for the characterisation of the materials and their weathering products
Expected learning outcomes
Mastery of the main diagnostic techniques aimed at the characterisation of materials used in industry, cultural heritage and gemology
