Learning objectives
The course provides a systematic framework for the knowledge and understanding of the distinctive features of the theoretical approach of economic sociology and of its major substantive contributions to the analysis of contemporary societies, with particular reference to the transformations of production systems, the role of public policies and the comparison of economic systems. The final part of the course is devoted to the study of the social construction of markets and of the embeddedness of economic relationships into social and political institutions. Students will learn how to apply such knowledge to understand and analyse a broad array of economic phenomena which characterise their day-to-day experience and which have a key role in the public debate, like, for instance, innovation processes and the financialisation of the economy.
