Learning objectives
The course aims to give students a thorough understanding of the Italian legislation on the major bioethical topics and to investigate, also through comparative analysis, legal disputes and ethical dilemmas related to them. The course also aims to develop an autonomous capacity of analysis and criticism of ethically sensitive legal norms. It will cover topics such as medically assisted procreation, genetic engineering, abortion, medical treatments, euthanasia and living wills.

(4) It is integral part of the syllabus also the study of the following legislation: (i) Legge 22 maggio 1978, n. 194, "Norme per la tutela sociale della maternità e sull'interruzione volontaria della gravidanza"; (ii) Legge 1 aprile 1999, n. 91, "Disposizioni in materia di prelievi e di trapianti di organi e di tessuti"; (iii) Legge 19 febbraio 2004, n. 40, "Norme in materia di procreazione medicalmente assistita".

Attending students: oral exam, or (optionally) written examination.
Non-attending students: oral exam.
