Learning objectives
Fornire agli studenti gli elementi teorici e pratici necessari e indispensabili per una corretta e esauriente comprensione dei processi dinamici e cinetici dei farmaci di maggior interesse specifico nelle specie animali da reddito e d'affezione.
Fornire agli studenti gli strumenti per un corretto utilizzo dei farmaci negli animali sotto il profilo del controllo e della cura delle malattie e della produzione di alimenti di origine animale destinati al consumo alimentare nell'uomo.
Il modulo di Tossicologia Veterinaria si articola in 2 parti. Nella prima parte, Tossicologia generale, verranno illustrati allo studente i principi di tossicocinetica e di tossicodinamica, mentre nella seconda, Tossicologia Speciale, verranno fornite specifiche informazioni di ordine tossicologico relativamente adelementi e sostanzetossiche responsabili di avvelenamenti acuti e cronici negli animali domestici

GENERAL PHARMACOLOGY
Drugs classification and doses. Pharmaceutical preparations. Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacosurveillance. Drug prescription. Factors influencing drugs activity. Pharmacodynamics, receptors, drug-receptor interaction. Agonist and antagonist drugs. Drugs interactions. Pharmacokinetics, kinetic models, drug residues in food animals.
SPECIAL PHARMACOLOGY
Drugs acting on the autonomic nervous system. Drugs acting on the central nervous system. Local and general anesthetics. Drugs acting on the cardiovascular system. Prostaglandins, steroidal and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Opioid Analgesic drugs. Histamine and antihistamine drugs. Diuretics. Drugs acting on the gastrointestinal system. Drugs acting on the airways. Drugs acting on the endocrine system.
CHEMOTHERAPY
Antiseptics and disinfectants. Sulphonamides and potentiated sulphonamides. Quinolones and fluoroquinolones. Beta-lactams (penicillins, cephalosporins and lactamases-inhibitors). Aminoglycosides. Tetracyclines. Macrolides and lincosamides. Polipeptide antimicrobials. Antiprotozoal agents. Antihelmintic agents. Antiviral and antitumoral agents. Antimicrobial combinations.
