Learning objectives
To stimulate students' interest on agricultural and cropping systems of their own or other different geographic areas. To provide tools for personal deeper analysis and interdisciplinary integration. To provide a dynamic analysis of the agricultural sector in relation to the production needs and to the natural resources conservation.
Expected learning outcomes
The knowledge of agricultural and farming systems. The capacity to analyse the relations among the components of the systems, the influence of the meteorological driving variables on crops and vegetation. The knowledge of the relations soil/crop.
Comprehension of the internal processes of the systems related to water and nutrients cycles.

Principles of system analysis. Cropping, farming, agricultural systems concepts. Functions and properties. Climate, meteorological conditions. Factors and elements. World Climate Classification. Monitoring tools and methods. Soil: main physical, chemical, microbiologica features. Seed. The quality of seeds, seed analysis e the activity of INRAN-ENSE. Seed security concept. Basic element for specie and cv. choice. Agrotechniques. Land preparation, tillage related to crop rotation. Basic element for defining irrigation, fertilization, weed control, crop protection plans. Integrated Crop Production. The quality of food chains.
