Learning objectives
Gli obiettivi del corso sono: (1) fornire le conoscenze necessarie alla comprensione della struttura e della funzione delle principali biomolecole costituenti gli organismi viventi; (2) descrivere i principali processi biologici presenti nelle cellule animali, con particolare riferimento ai destini metabolici dei principali componenti degli alimenti (carboidrati, lipidi e proteine); (3) approfondire in particolare i meccanismi molecolari attraverso cui gli organismi animali ottengono energia dagli alimenti in condizioni aerobie ed anaerobie; (4) acquisire conoscenze di base relative alla biologia delle macromolecole informazionali, inclusi i processi di replicazione del DNA e biosintesi dell'RNA e delle proteine

Metabolism of lipids: metabolism of fatty acids and ketone bodies, overview of metabolism of triacylglicerols, phosphoglycerids, sfingolipids, cholesterol and steroids (6 hours)
Krebs cycle and oxidative phosphorylation (4 hours)
