Learning objectives
The course proposes the study of some applied research problems. The goal is to
develop, implement and apply proper mathematical models requiring the
development of suitable tools, possibly based on simulations and data analysis.
The topics may vary across the years, according to the teachers holding the course
and the research themes they propose.
Expected learning outcomes
To develop a mathematical model describing physical, biological, social, financial
phenomena. To design a numerical algorithm and to implement a computational
code in order to simulate phenomena described by a mathematical model. To work
in a team. To write a scientific report. To structure a scientific presentation.

Gradual development of mathematical models for applied research problems through: the analysis of literature and of the main properties of the models; the development and implementation of proper algorithms for the numerical simulations and the statistical analysis; representation interpretation and validation of the results.
