Learning objectives
Lo scopo di questo percorso multidisciplinarea è quello di fornire gli strumenti utili alla conduzione dell'esame clinico ed alla scelta delle indagini strumentali e di laboratorio più appropriate, oltre che all'impostazione di un programma di profilassi e di terapia delle malattie del cane e del gatto.
Il percorso avrà un carattere eminentemente pratico, aderente alla realtà clinica della professione del medico veterinario e pertanto la varietà delle patologie affrontate sarà subordinata alla casistica clinica riferita agli ambulatori ed ai laboratori del dipartimento di afferenza dei docenti coinvolti.
Qualora si ravvisasse la necessità di approfondire alcune tematiche si prevedono seminari interattivi, da svolgersi su argomenti specifici che emergeranno durante il percorso.
L'obiettivo è che gli allievi acquisiscano un metodo di valutazione del caso clinico che consenta la formulazione di ipotesi diagnostiche, la selezione delle indagini strumentali e di laboratorio più appropriate e la scelta del protocollo terapeutico che presenti la maggiore evidenza di efficacia.

Course syllabus
The patient in internal medicine: physical examination; choice of the laboratory tests and imaging studies necessary to the diagnosis. The therapeutic approach. Elements of: nephrology, urology, gastroenterology, endocrinology and dermatology
Modulo: Apparato cardio-circolatorio: diagnosi e terapia
Course syllabus
The patient affected by cardiovascular disease : clinical examination, diagnostic procedures (ECG, Echocardiographic examination, Holter) and therapy. The analysis of normal and abnormal ECG tracings and the evaluation of echocardiographic images are important aspect of the cardiology clinical path.
Modulo: Apparato respiratorio: diagnostica clinico-strumentale
Course syllabus
The program will cover the practical aproach to the most frequent diseases of the respiratory tract in small animals. The student will be introducted to the upper airways diseases as BAOS and laryngeal diseases as well as the acute and chronic lower respiratory tract affection.
All the aspects are teached by a practical clinical aproach in Veterinary Teaching Hospital

Analysis and evaluation of behavior. Normal and pathological behaviors and behavioural disorders. Interventions for behavioral modifications.
Modulo: Citologia diagnostica
Course syllabus
This is an introduction to cytology and focuses on the common sites sampled in clinical practice (mainly skin, lymph node, effusions) with special reference to neoplastic lesions. Course module cover cytology overview with an identification of cell components and backgrounds. The aim is to learn to apply cytology in clinical practice. The stepwise fashion of teaching cytology used in this module will allow the student to build confidence in his/her cytology skills. Course module is mainly based on microscopic evaluation of cytology slides

Course syllabus
Diagnosis of the most common endo and ectoparasite infections of dogs and cats. In particular, will be considered a few emergent parasites as Cryptosporidium, Giardia, Tritrichomonas, Blastocystis, lungworms and Angiostrongylus.
