Program of the mode:
Characteristics of living organisms: cell theory; methods for studying cells; prokaryotic cells; eukaryotic cells; hierarchical organization in biology; evolution of organisms. Viruses are genetic parasites of bacterial and eukaryotic organisms

Informational macromolecules and the central dogma of biology: DNA, RNA, proteins.

Structure and organization of the eukaryotic cell: cell compartmentalization; membranous organelles and endosymbiotic organelles; ribosomes; cytoskeleton; junctions; extracellular matrix.

Cellular communication: mechanisms of communication between cells.

The eukaryotic cell cycle and its regulation: phases of the cycle; control mechanisms; apoptosis; the cancer cell.

The reproduction of living things: asexual and sexual reproduction; mitosis, meiosis and their comparison; gametogenesis; fertilization; differentiation.
