Learning objectives
The aim of the PATOLOGY AND REPRODUCTION course is to provide students with the knowledge about the causes and mechanisms of the disease and the main defense systems of the animal organism and for the proper management of the main aspects of reproduction and of artificial insemination in farm animals, with particular reference to comparative aspects among the different species.

Introduction to general pathology, definition of diesease and homeostasis (2 h)
General etiology: genetic causes, radiations, chemicals, living pathogens, hypo or hypervitaminosis (8 h)
Cellular degeneration and steatosis , extracellular degeneration ed extracellulari (amiloidosis) (4 h)
Cellular death necrosis and apoptosisi i (1 h)
Inflammation : angioflogosis and histoflogosis (6 h)
Immunopatology: hypersensitivity (4 h)
Pathophysiology of thyroidal diseases. Stress (4 h)

Course syllabus
The module is conceived to provide the student with the detailed knowledges of the reproductive techniques in bovine, buffalo, small ruminants and swine species. Particular attention will be paid to the management aspects of the reproductive techniques aimed at improving the reproductive efficiency and the genetic improvement of the species listed above. Particular attention will be given to the learning of the artificial insemination techniques and the sperm manipulation, preservation and freezing. In particular, the course is aimed to provide the student with the knowledge for a proper management of the main aspects of reproduction in livestock, by extending the aspects of the management of the estrous cycle control, parturition and post-partum, as well as collecting, assessing and preserving spermatozoa and artificial insemination.
