The course provides the basic scientific elements and the evaluations used for the prevention and protection from the risk of exposure to ionizing radiation, for the population, the patient, the worker and the environment, in relation to the planned exposure situations, the existing and the emergency exposure situations.
The system of radiological protection (-dosimetric, radiation protection and operational quantities; -principles of radiation protection; -constraints and reference levels; -risks attributable to ionizing radiation; -estimates of specific detriments; -basis for the calculation of risk coefficients).
Radiation protection in medicine (-basis for protecting the patient and the medical staff in radiology and nuclear medicine; -risk estimation in diagnostic imaging; - radiation protection of the embryo, fetus and children; -accidents involving the use of radiation in medicine ).
Objectives of the radiation protection of the environment (-protection of the public from radiation sources, for both anthropogenic and natural origin; -protection of fauna and flora from exposure to ionizing radiation; -dosimetry aspects; -derived levels of consideration).
