Learning objectives
L'attività formativa, organizzata in 6 moduli, è finalizzata a sviluppare la preparazione di base del laureando in tema di gestione e salvaguardia delle popolazioni selvatiche a vita libera. L'attenzione è rivolta alle problematiche di più diretto riscontro professionale quali: l'inquadramento diagnostico ed epidemiologico di patologie sia diffusive (in particolare zoonosi e quelle trasmissibili tra animali domestici e selvatici), sia non diffusive (tossiche, dismetaboliche, ecc.), tutela della biodiversità e misure gestionali. L'attività didattica è integrata da esercitazioni in laboratorio, uscite su campo e seminari con il coinvolgimento di professionisti esperti nelle diverse tematiche. Finalità ultima dell'attività proposta è fornire gli elementi base per rapportarsi professionalmente alle complesse problematiche che, in una realtà territoriale sempre più antropizzata, si pongono in tema di gestione del patrimonio faunistico, tutela delle produzioni zootecniche e della stessa salute umana.

The objectives of the module are schematically identified as follows:
Knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course the student will have to know the main pathologies of wild animals and their gross and microscopic lesions. It will also have to know the most important pathogens for which wild animals can be a reservoir.
Applying knowledge and understanding
The student will have to use the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired to formulate an anatomical-pathological diagnosis related to the most important pathologies of wild animals.
Autonomy of judgment
At the end of the course the student should be able to autonomously evaluate the gross lesions of the diseases treated and be able to define a monitoring plan related to the most important diseases of the wild ungulates species.
In the course will be described, with necropsy room practices, necropsy tecnhiques used in wild animal pathology. Gross and microscopic lesions of the most frequent and important diseases of wild animal will be also described and discussed. Each student will be asked to read a recently published scientific paper on wild animal pathology topics and to describe briefly its content in a Power Point presentation.
