Management of Human Resources and Labour Studies (Mls)
The MSc Management of human resources and labour studies programme is an innovative and highly challenging two-year course of study that provides a highly multidisciplinary foundation on human resources and labour studies, maintaining a strong business and management orientation.
The programme offers students a vast array of topics with a pluralistic perspective, a strong international and comparative orientation and an integrated framework between business and management decisions and labour market institutions and dynamics, in the firm belief that managers need to recognize institutional and political dynamics, and regulators need to acknowledge business needs and frameworks.
The programme has been designed to allow students to be part of a lively learning community, with ease of access to professors, instructors and practitioners, through a network of business organizations, Human resources professionals and labour regulators involved in the design and delivery of courses. Collaboration with partner organizations will allow students, among many other opportunities, to be exposed to actual tools and processes, to participate in learning activities at company sites and to take advantage of internship programmes.
The programme will provide a learning experience to acquire advanced knowledge and skills in Labour and HR management, which can be applied in a variety of management roles in global business organizations and regulatory institutions, with a specific European focus.
The majority of our graduates work in human resource management roles, mainly in larger business organizations, or join international and national labour studies institutions.

The Admission Test aims at ascertaining personal knowledge, competences, and skills in the core areas of the programme: labour economics, employment law, social and welfare policies, sociology of labour, organization theory, organization behaviour. The Admission Test is an online test: applicants receive an email with the link to the online test after applying. The application will be evaluated on the basis of the previous academic merits, the letter of motivation, the recommendation letter(s), and the results in the Admission Test, and the offer of a place on the programme may be conditional on additional requirements (courses, qualifying examinations, etc.)
The program offers the option of attending part of the program in another European country, being part of the EMLS-European Master in Labour Sciences, established in 1993 in Toulouse by 4 universities acting as founding partners.
Presently, the EMLS network (http://www.mest-emls.eu/) operates in 10 European countries (Germany, The Netherlands, Great Britain, Ireland, Belgium, France, Portugal, Spain, Slovenia, Italy) through 13 member universities, among the most prestigious in this field:

The overall objective of the network has been to establish a joint curriculum, with a distinctive focus on Europe in order to promote a comparative approach both in research and education in the field of Labour Studies.
To this end, member universities have each developed a similar, and comparable, multidisciplinary program.
All member university shall:
- Provide knowledge on the European context
- Provide multidisciplinary training on labour studies (labour economics, labour sociology, labour psychology, labour law, labour politics, HRM)
- Develop a European comparative approach
At the completion of the six-month program, which is part of the Erasmus+ program, students receive a degree from the Réseau Interuniversitaire Européen en Sciences du Travail.
On the basis of the existing relation within the EMLS-MEST program, the MLS course has established a bilateral double degree agreement with the Universität Bremen, which will award a dual graduation to participating students.
For students enrolled on bachelor’s, master’s and single cycle degree programmes are divided into two instalments of different amounts and with different payment deadlines:
- the first, corresponding to the minimum amount, is the same for all students
- the second - technically referred to as an ‘all-inclusive fee’- that is variable.
Students can also be entitled for tuition fee reductions such as:
- lowering for students who meet high merit requirements
- fixed amounts calculated on the basis of the student's citizenship group for those with income/property abroad
- support for students who have political refugee status.
