Telling the body. Narratives, methods, politics and cultures
The seminar will be focused on more or less recent narratives unfolding around the body as the hub of any discourse and in so doing they go back to the diachronic development of the representation of the body and investigate the many ways in which this figure becomes a central metaphor in contemporary cultures. The specific issues that will be investigated are connected with ethic, hybrid and intersectional bodies, illness and disability, and the relationship between body and identity. We will exploit a variety of texts (from literary studies, visual studies and sound studies) and we will refer to transnational and interdisciplinary horizon.
