Cisia TOLC Test

TOLC (CISIA OnLine Test) is a test that assesses applicants' aptitude and initial preparation for admission to degree programmes.  

Delivered by CISIA (Consortium of Interuniversity Integrated Access Systems), TOLC consists of specific tests, which are mandatory for matriculating on certain degree programmes at the University of Milan, both open admissions and limited enrolment programmes.

The call for applications of each degree programme indicates the type of TOLC test, the registration procedure and deadlines.

In general, to sit the TOLC test required for certain University of Milan degree programmes you must:

  1. Register on the CISIA portal and register for the TOLC test
  2. Register on the Unimi portal 
  3. Submit an application for admission 
When can I take the TOLC test?

The following information is contained in the call for applications of individual degree programmes:

  • deadlines and procedures for submitting your application online 
  • date in which the final admission ranking will be published online.

The call for applications for limited enrolment bachelor's programmes may indicate special criteria for drawing up the ranking, such as weighted scoring of different sections of the test.

The outcome of only the last TOLC test completed shall be considered for the purpose of matriculating on University of Milan degree programmes, as long as the test was taken after 1 January 2018 and by the deadline indicated in the call for applications.

There are TOLC exam sessions throughout the year and the test may be taken up to once a month.

Students can take the TOLC test at various locations in Italy, including the University of Milan, where the following tests are administered:

50 questions (20 on basic mathematics, 10 on biology, 10 on physics, 10 on chemistry)
Duration: 110 minutes
Bachelor's degree programmes:

36 questions (13 logic, 10 on reading comprehension, 13 on mathematics) + 1 section on English
Duration: 90 minutes.

50 questions (20 on basic mathematics, 10 on reasoning and problem-solving, 10 on reading comprehension, 10 on basic science)

50 questions (30 on reading comprehension and knowledge of the Italian language, 10 knowledge and skills acquired during studies, 10 logical reasoning)
Duration: 100 minutes.
