Transversal competences

The University organizes, for each doctoral cycle, compulsory courses for doctoral students in all areas of study. The courses aim to develop transversal competences such as:

  • interdisciplinary knowledge of research planning and management

  • perfecting language and IT skills

  • communication skills.

In particular, courses aim to provide knowledge on:

  • European and international research systems

  • valuing research results and intellectual property

  • research ethics, also in the framework of national, EU and international legislation

  • tools for defining a professional identity and career paths.

Research assessment

There are two editions held in Italian:

  • 1st edition - for doctoral students in the area of humanities, law and politics 
    29 January 2019, ore 14.30 -18.30, lecture room  211, Via Festa del Perdono no. 3 

  • 2nd edition - for doctoral students in the area of science and healthcare

  • 1° February 2019, 9am -1 pm, lecture room 200, Via Celoria no. 26 

To attend just show up at the room on the scheduled day. Registration is not required.

Part One

The module addresses the following topics: 

  • national and international research funding

  • why we need calls for research proposals

  • what are calls for research proposals and what types are there?

  • difference between a research proposal and an article

  • The European Charter for Researchers

There are two different editions, one taught in Italian, the other in English:

  • Italian edition
    25 June 2019, 9am-1pm, Lecture room 201, Via Festa del Perdono 3

  • English edition
    27 June 2019, 2.30pm-6.30pm, Lecture room Chisini, Via Saldini 50

Part One is a prerequisite for part 2 of the course to be held in July.

Part Two

The module addresses the following topics:

  • how to write a competitive project in response to a call for research proposals

  • tools for designing projects in response to calls for research proposals

  • how to prepare a CV for submitting a project proposal

  • Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI).

There are two different editions, one taught in Italian, the other in English:

  • English edition
    17 July 2019, 2.30pm-6.30pm, Lecture room Chisini, Via Saldini 50

  • Italian edition
    18 July 2019, 9am-1pm, Lecture room 211, Via Festa del Perdono 3

To attend just show up at the room on the scheduled day. Registration is not required.
