Our planet is experiencing a decline in its non-renewable resources and is exposed to risks deriving from climate change. The agricultural sector must supply food, non-food products, ecosystemic services and energy, whilst guaranteeing safety and food sovereignty. It is therefore essential to develop advanced training courses in order to achieve efficiency and sustainability in the agricultural sector and its various territorial contexts, taking into account the various elements of the production system and their organisation in agro-ecosystems. Reference will be made to:
a) phenotypic and genotypic features and the valorisation of genetic resources;
b) containment of biotic and abiotic adversities;
c) implementation of predictive IT models;
d) bioenergy production, use of residual substances, soil and water resource conservation;
e) analysis and management of technical means, agricultural processes, multi-functionality of rural areas and of agrobiodiversity.
The programme will enable researchers to:
a) develop autonomous research;
b) prepare and propose public and private research projects on a local, national and international level;
c) identify research needs and their scientific, social and economic relevance;
d) transfer knowledge through teaching activities and the presentation of data and results;
e) transfer research results to the public and private sphere.

Carbon sequestration and nitrogen dynamics: Field and modelling study of cover crops
Requirements: The candidate must have a good knowledge of cropping systems and agronomy; competencies in crop modelling are positively considered. Competencies in the statistical analysis of data and in the use of statistical tools are also required.
Biostimulant from Biomasses. Biomasses can be a useful source of biomolecules acing as biostimulant. The project aims to investigate biomass source of biomolecules, theirs activity and action modality.
Study and development of information technologies for the application of the Precision Livestock Farming logic in dairy farms
Requirements: The candidate must possess good knowledge of dairy cattle husbandry and related mechanization systems. In addition, experiences in data collection using information technologies and sensors, data and image analysis are requested.
Biophysical models to support breeding programs
Grapevine grafting: the influence of environment on scion transcript profiling and metabolites induced by rootstocks
Requirements: The candidate have to demostrate knowledge on the fied of plant molecular biology and the use of nucleotide sequence, gene expression and protein databases.
Innovative irrigation solutions to improve the sustainability of rice-based agro-ecosystems
Requirements: The candidate should have a background in hydrology and agricultural hydraulics. In addition, familiarity with sensors/devices for the monitoring of water fluxes in agro-ecosystems and with hydrological modelling (in particular of the soil-atmosphere-vegetation system).
Strategies for improving crop tolerance to abiotic stesses
Requirements: The candidate should have a background in horticulture, plant physiology and biochemistry
Multidisciplinary approach for setting up a continuous monitoring system in goat farms by means of vocalization analysis
Impact of climate oscillations on the population genomics of alpine cold-adapted endemic plants and their pollinators
Requirements: The candidate must possess good knowledge of the field of biology and molecular biology of plants, plus basic general knowledge of biology (botany and entomology). In addition, experience in data handling and basic bioinformatics tools are expected, and experience of GIS and/or climate modelling would be an advantage.
Application of sensing and automation technologies for early disease detection and selectìve protection treatments on crops
Morphological, genetic and molecular studies will be performed in order to understand how rice plant and panicle architecture is established. Such information will be intergrated with the aim of driving rice breeding programs for these traits.
Requirements: The candidate must have a botanical knowledge for plant morphology, and should be accustomed with optical and possibly confocal microscopy. Furthermore she/he should be already be trained with the basic molecular biology techniques.
Study and characterization of maize cultivars rich in flavonoids
Characterization of changes in membrane proteomes in maize (Zea mays L.) roots during perception and adaptation to different nitrogen inputs
Requirements: Basic knowledge of biochemistry, and of plant physiology and plant mineral nutrition.
Phytoplasma-host molecular interaction
Requirements: Good knowledge in plant pathology and molecular biology
Genetic dissection of plant architecture traits for improvement of barley productivity
Requirements: Solid background in genetics, molecular biology and genomics, interest in plant genetics and availability to carry out field work

Modellization of sustainable cropping system (Precision and conservation agriculture)
