The objectives of the course are on the one hand knowledge and understanding of the basic techniques of univariate and bivariate statistical analysis and secondly the ability to actually implement the knowledge learned nl particular context of the social sciences.
Will be prepared on the platform ARIEL a website on which will be made available tutorials, data sets, teaching materials.
Prerequisiti e modalità di esame
The exam consists of a written test in which the student must answer 8 multiple choice questions and exercises, and 4 in a test in the laboratory. In order to verify the ability to apply the knowledge learned is required students to do a term paper with SPSS by applying techniques of univariate and bivariate statistical analysis to a dataset (other than those used in the tutorials and lesson) downloaded from public archives (Istat, Eurostat , OECD, ESS, etc.). There is no oral examination. The course requires no prior knowledge of statistics, but it is advisable to have knowledge of basic mathematics.
