Obiettivi formativi
The goal of this course is twofold: 1) study the privacy risks caused by the public release of information and solutions for their mitigation; and 2) study the basic legal concept of the personal data protection.
The course aims at providing the student with knowledge and understanding of privacy risks, the ability to recognize risks for users and respondents privacy, and the ability to identify possible solutions to mitigate them. The course will provide good knowledge of the European data protection. The awareness of the new European Framework is expected to improve students consciousness of the data revolution in progress and of its implication for their future professional activities.

Unit Cybersecurity and Privacy Preservation Techniques
The exam consists of a written test, including both questions and exercises covering the topics of the course. Questions and exercises are aimed at evaluating the knowledge and understanding of the student of the course.

Unit Digital Security and Privacy
Attending students can take the exam in writing on the basis of intermediate verifications which will be held at the end of each module. The exams are composed of multiple choice questions and an open-ended question. The objective is to verify the argumentative and reasoning skills.

sintactic and semantic techniques for protecting respondents privacy in data publication (e.g., k-anonymity, l-diversity, differential privacy)

3. user privacy
privacy risk, violations, and regulations in social networks and web scenarios

The European concept of privacy between EU and ECHR; The relevant data subjects; Territorial and material scope; Principles and conditions relating to processing of personal data; Rights of the data subject; The Member States' Independent Supervisory Authorities and the European Data Protection Board; Competence, tasks and powers, Remedies and penalties; Transfers of personal data to third countries (non-EU countries); IA and Data protection

The exam is oral. The oral exam consists of an interview on program topics, aimed at ascertaining the preparation and argumentative capacity of the student
