Course Objectives

The degree programme in Liberal Studies of Land, Landscape and the Environment is designed to provide graduates with advanced competences in the different aspects of the geographical sciences, both anthropic and naturalistic, and their various fields of application.

In addition, it offers students a fundamental theoretical and methodological basis in the geophysical, botanical, psychological, anthropological, legal, economic, social, historic, literary, artistic and architectonic disciplines required for the scientific analysis, evaluation, interpretation and representation of land systems and the cultural landscape, and for assessing forms of human usage and the environmental and social impact of anthropic intervention on land systems.

These competences are underpinned by training in foreign languages and in the main computer and cartographic representation tools required for the transmission and management of information within the various spheres of competence. Students also acquire competences in the exchange and management of information.

The degree programme is designed to provide graduates with the competences and analytical and interpretive tools, specific to geography and the natural and human environmental sciences, required for the interpretation, representation and communication of phenomena connected with the construction and development of the environment, land, landscapes, cultures and societies, and for the identification and evaluation of material and immaterial elements that merit cultural and tourist attention.

The course also equips students with specific competences in the field of intercultural mediation and in the development and evaluation of international cooperation projects.
