Course Objectives

Graduates from the master degree programme in History and Criticism of Art possess a sound understanding and awareness of the history of art, from the period of Late Antiquity to the current day. This is complemented by an awareness and comprehension of the transmission, reception and use of both figurative ‘texts’ – in relation to the diverse spheres in which the arts find expression (architecture, painting, sculpture, applied arts) – and of artistic literature in the widest sense of the term.



Career and Employment

On the strength of their advanced knowledge and competences, History and Criticism of Art graduates are equipped to pursue careers:

  • in the University sphere, through the pursuit of further scientific research and specialist teaching
  • in institutions such as museums, Government offices, foundations, art galleries, documentation centres, archives, libraries
  • in the provision of specialist consulting services for companies and operators in the cultural and publishing industry and in the diffusion of historic and artistic heritage awareness.
