Course Objectives

The course produces professional figures with a good grasp of:

  • the agricultural environment, in particular herbaceous, tree and shrubby crops, their physiology and ecology, their production and qualitative characteristics, and their relationship with climactic, pedological and biotic aspects
  • standard and innovative cultivation techniques and the technical methods employed to manage agricultural systems and urban and territorial green area systems
  • the biology of pathogens, including fungi, bacteria, viruses, viroids and phytoplasma, and of animal parasites such as insects, mites, nematodes and rodents
  • the relationships that exist between these, with the plants, organisms and micro-organisms that share the same ecological niche, strengthening the interrelationships between pathogens, insects and useful organisms, also for the purposes of biological conservation
  • weeds, protective measures and the methods which are most effective and most respectful of the health of human beings and the environment.



Career and Employment

Graduates in the Production and Protection of Plants and Vegetation Systems are professional figures equipped with a sound knowledge of plant organisms, and a basic grounding in the physiological, biochemical, genetic, and agronomic bases of plants with food, non-food or ornamental uses.

In particular, graduates can pursue careers in:    

  • production companies engaged in agricultural, arboreal, horticultural and floricultural cultivation, in the open, in nurseries or in greenhouses, in the implementation of the most effective technical processes in terms of profitability optimisation, environmental development and guaranteed sustainability
  • plant product distribution, commercialisation and quality control companies
  • the management and control of production processes in nursery gardening farms and companies engaged in the design, maintenance and management of green areas
  • diagnostic and consulting laboratories and companies dealing with the protection of plants, provisions and environments, with full respect for consumer health and environmental protection
  • companies that produce and sell technical, chemical and biological techniques for the sustainable protection of plants, provisions and environments
  • public bodies and legal authorities (Municipalities, Provinces, Regions, Reclamation Consortia, etc.)
  • freelance work, either on an autonomous basis or in collaboration with professional agronomists, architects, engineers, etc.
