Learning objectives
Learning of the theoretical concepts and basic practical skills needed to correctly collect anamnestic data and to perform the physical examination of the Patient, from general, dental and oral soft tissues point of view. Learning of the concepts needed for the evaluation of clinical and instrumental data to perform a correct diagnosis. Learning of the theoretical concepts and basic practical skills needed to perform the restorative therapy of a single element using direct techniques.
Expected learning outcomes
Ability to perform anamnestic collection and a physical and instrumental examination of the Patient. Ability to correctly evaluate the data obtained from them. Ability to properly perform restorative therapy of a single element on a dental simulator.

Prerequisites for admission
Preliminary knowledge in the field of anatomy, dental materials and evidence-based dentistry are required.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Oral and written tests
Test result communication: by email to the class representative.
The exam will focus on the topics covered during the class.
Foundations of oral diagnosis
Course syllabus
Provide the student with the general basis for the diagnostic process, including the diagnostic steps and the various diagnostic assessment strategies, with specific references to diseases of the oral cavity.
· Addressing the utility and limitations of the main diagnostic tests used in the dental field, with particular reference to the screening of oral cancer.
Teaching methods
The teaching will be delivered through lectures and clinical exercises.
The teaching uses e-learning teaching material placed on the Ariel platform; here are provided the slides used in class and the most relevant scientific articles, relevant to the topics covered.

· Provide the student with the general theoretical basis about material science.
· Develop in the student the practical skills needed to correctly use the main types of dental materials using the dental simulator.

Conservative dentistry
Course syllabus
· Provide the student with the general theoretical basis about direct adhesive restorations.
· Develop in the student the practical skills needed to perform direct adhesive restorations using the dental simulator.
