Learning objectives
The course is aimed at supplying theoretical and practical fundamentals for the preparation of conventional dosage forms. Tools will be provided to understand the relationships between physico-chemical properties of the active ingredients, route of administration, design of the dosage form and bioavailability. In the laboratory practicals, basics for the formulation of immediate-release dosage forms will be acquired, and selected preparations for oral as well as topical administration will be approached.
Expected learning outcomes
Through this course the student will acquire theoretical and practical fundamentals of formulation and preparation of immediate-release dosage forms. Also, she/he will understand key relationships between physico-chemical properties of the active ingredients, route of administration, design of the dosage form and bioavailability. Attending laboratory practicals, she/he will have the opportunity to consolidate and apply concepts learned during the lectures, and skills in the preparation of immediate-release dosage forms for oral and topical administration are expected to be developed.
