Departments
Departments are the University’s organizing structure for:
- scientific research
- teaching and related educational activities.
They are the sites where general strategic objectives are translated into specific action, where the integration of knowledge and skills, even across departments, is initiated, and where research quality assurance processes are implemented.
The University of Milan has 33 departments, which are remarkably interdisciplinary in their approach, grouped according to the ERC (European Research Council) classification into:
- Social sciences and humanities (SH),
- Physical and mathematical sciences (PE)
- Life sciences (LS)
