Pharmacoeconomics and marked access: strategies and applications

This course for PhD students in Pharmaceutical Sciences aims to explore the crucial role of pharmacoeconomics and market access strategies in drug management and healthcare policies. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of economic methodologies to evaluate health technologies' economic and social impact, analyzing how these evaluations influence procurement and reimbursement decisions. The program is divided into two main parts. The first part introduces economic methods applied to healthcare decision-making processes, such as the Budget Impact model, cost-effectiveness, and cost-utility analyses. The second part focuses on market access strategies, including the development of pricing and reimbursement strategies, as well as the management of relationships with regulatory authorities. Through theoretical lectures and practical seminars, students will develop foundational skills in the entire post-approval pathway of healthcare technologies, both in terms of pricing definition and market access. The course is designed to prepare participants to have a broad perspective on what happens after the research and development process of healthcare technologies.
