Obiettivi formativi
Critically discussing the current process of globalisation of health law related issues, and the growing interaction between different actors and institutions in promoting and protecting the wellbeing of individuals worldwide.
Outlining the development of health regulation in connection with the UN Agenda on Sustainable Development.
Analysing the institutions that act in the field of implementation of sustainable development goals, with a particular focus on health protection and SDG n. 3.
Assessing the interrelation between health law and socio-economic rights.
Risultati apprendimento attesi
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
Understand the basic issues of health law in a multilevel and comparative perspective.
Address the current process of globalization and its impact on health systems.
Understand the connection between Sustainable Development and global health regulation.
At the end of the course, students will be able to understand the role of governments, judiciary power, NGOs and international institutions in the development of effective policies in the field of global health affecting the wellbeing of individuals, especially those who are marginalised and disadvantaged (immigrants, women, children, disableds, etc).

Programma
The study of Global Health Law permits to analyze and discuss how law can and should be used to ensure healthy lives and promoting the well-being for all - essential aspects of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
After providing an introduction to international, supranational and national public health law, the course will cover topics including models of healthcare systems; healthcare systems and the challenge of immigrations; reproductive rights (abortion, IVF fertilization, surrogacy), health and new-technologies: GMO, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, experimentation on humans and stem cells research.
Prerequisiti
Attendant students: Students' grade will be based on class participation and on the discussion of a written assessment. Class participation will constitute 50% of the final grade and the assessment will constitute the remaining 50% of the final grade. Students may write about any topic that interests them in the field of global health law, with the approval of the professor.

No texts need to be purchased for the course; all teaching materials will be available online, through the Ariel website. Please consult the syllabus for each reading assignment and additional readings suggested for students who wish to go further on topics of particular interests
