Language in politics

Il livello di conoscenza della lingua inglese richiesto in ingresso corrisponde al livello B2 ('Vantage') del Quadro Comune Europeo di Riferimento stabilito dal Consiglio d'Europa.
Alla fine del corso, il livello di conoscenza della lingua inglese richiesto è il livello C1 ('Effective Operational Proficiency') del Quadro Comune Europeo di Riferimento, stabilito dal Consiglio d'Europa; il livello C1 non è tuttavia condizione sufficiente in quanto è richiesta la padronanza delle skill trattate durante il corso. Per questo motivo le certificazioni internazionali non vengono accettate in sostituzione di una parte dell'esame.

L'esame finale sarà scritto e orale e prevede un giudizio in finale in trentesimi. La prova scritta, svolta senza dizionario, consisterà in:
1) test di diversa tipologia (multiple choice, matching, gap filling, open questions, ecc. ).
2) information transfer: ascolto di un breve testo e completamento di tabella e/o risposta a quesiti aperti.
La prova orale dell'esame comprenderà una presentazione orale su un argomento a scelta, attinente al corso di laurea.
Il candidato dovrà presentare al momento del colloquio d'esame un dossier contenente dieci articoli / testi di almeno 500 parole ciascuno, tratti da edizioni cartacee o da siti Internet, relativi ad un argomento specialistico di loro scelta (e.g. un personaggio pubblico, un'istituzione, una ONG, un evento, ecc.) e organizzati in un percorso concettuale, completo i riferimenti bibliografici. Nel colloquio verranno poste domande sull'argomento scelto, i metodi utilizzati e la pianificazione e preparazione della presentazione.

· Prerequisites and exam format
The entry level of English competence required is B2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
The English competence expected at the end of the course is C1 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). However, C1 competence in itself is not sufficient as it needs to be integrated with specific research and business communication skills, as described in the programme. Accordingly, no international certification will be accepted as a substitute for any part of the exam.

The exam has a written and spoken section.

The written section (without dictionary) includes:
1. Language check (grammar, vocabulary) with open /close questions.
2. Information transfer: listening with open/close exercises.
3. Test with open/close exercises on course content and skills.

The spoken section of the exam will be a presentation of a printed collection of 10 articles/texts of at least 500 words each, retrieved on line or from paper texts, all on a specific subject of the student's choice (e.g. a public figure, an institution, an NGO, an event, etc). The student must select and organize the material according to a specific concept map and provide a list of references used (with at least 3 different sources).
During the interview, students will be asked questions on the subject chosen, the methods used in conducting the project and the planning and preparation of the presentation.
