Corso integrativo: violence against women and gender justice

Obiettivi formativi
- Understanding the basic notions of gender, women's rights, equality and non-discrimination in both constitutional and international human rights law;
- Understanding and learning the existing mechanisms to tackle violence against women by looking at the national and supranational level;
- Learning critical tools to investigate and analyse the case-law of the European Convention of Human Rights on gender-based violence before and after the coming into force of the Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (so-called Istanbul Convention);
- Understanding the current controversies surrounding violence against women through a legal and constitutional perspective.
- Understanding and learning the existing mechanisms to tackle violence against women by looking at the national and supranational level;

Risultati apprendimento attesi
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
- understand and critically evaluate issues pertaining to the principle of non-discrimination on the basis of gender;
- understand the notion and features of violence against women, including domestic violence;
- analyse, comment and discuss cases held by national and supranational Courts, highlighting procedural rules and mechanisms tailored to tackle of gender-based violence in court;
- elaborate on the acquired notions through written and oral skills;
- engage in conversations and express personal judgments on the topics at issue.
